Lt. Richard S. Mileff

A Columbus fire lieutenant died from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash early Tuesday July 11, 2006. Investigators said Lt. Richard S. Mileff lost control of his motorcycle, struck a curb and was ejected from the bike.  Mileff, 43, of New Albany, was transported to St. Ann's Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead about an hour later, police said. Mileff joined the Columbus Division Division of Fire in 1989 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1998. He was assigned to the Ladder Company at Station 2, 2-Unit. He also served as a certified paramedic, EMS officer, bomb squad and hazardous materials technician and member of the division's Dive and Rescue Team (D.A.R.T.).

 FF Samuel S. Nichols III

Samuel S. Nichols III, 28,of Lancaster, died Saturday August 26, 2006 as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was a firefighter for the City of Columbus assigned to downtown Station 2 and a part-time firefighter for Pleasant Township Fire Department. He was associated with the North Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses, member of the I.A.F.F Local 67, a graduate of Lancaster High School of 1997 and was attending Devry University.
